I, like many others, have been living in my sweats for almost a year now. At the start I basically wore what I had in my closet – old university hoodies and long sleeves and my home sweat pants (yes, the ones with a hole here or there). Once I realized we would be in this for the long haul, I decided to purchase some dedicated loungewear.
There are so many cute loungewear sets online but funny enough, one of my favourite things I got was actually an oversized sweatshirt off of Amazon – a men’s large in stonewashed green. Translation: a super-cute sage green.
For a while now, I’ve wanted to embroider a word or a phrase on the corner of a plain sweatshirt or hoodie but just never got around to it. A few weeks ago when I was ‘watching’ the Super Bowl, I pulled out my embroidery kit and added a simple design to see how it would go. I love how it turned out and it was not as hard as it looks! I totally got Bridgerton vibes while I sat with my needle and hoop.
As usual – instructions on how to embroider on your loungewear or on a sweatshirt after the video.
What you need:
- Plain oversized sweatshirt. I got mine for less than $20 here.
- Embroidery floss + hoop. I’ve had this kit for a while and pull it for projects here and there.
- A pencil to draw your design. I used a mason jar lid to trace out a moon shape. You can use cookie cutters or anything
Instructions to embroider your loungewear:
Choose where you would like to add the design on your sweatshirt and place your embroidery hoop around the space. Trace your design into the space and run a backstitch across the line you traced. Ensure to tie off your thread a few times to make sure it doesn’t unravel. Be sure that the thread is a nice contrasting colour and lastly, give your sweatshirt a wash so all the pencil marks are rubbed off. That’s it!
Be sure you share and tag me if you choose to make this!
